![]() OOC BACKTAGGING: Absolutely! I'm tagging back regularly most of the time, but I may be slow when rl gets busy, so I'm all for backtagging. THREADHOPPING: I'm fine with it as long as the other party has nothing against it. FOURTHWALLING: Go for it! OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: None that I can think of, but I'll be sure to let you know if something doesn't feel right. Please feel free to do the same, especially since it's Juzo I'm playing. IC PHYSICAL AFFECTION: While Juzo himself would be very ??? at this it came up suddenly, I'm absolutely for surprising him and messing him up like that. PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: He basically lives to fight and it's his only talent, so three times yes. RELATIONSHIPS: Again, I'd love him to have a relationship with somebody, but let's be real his character traits makes it difficult. I'm a shameless multishipper, and as far as Dangan Ronpa goes, I love Juzo/Kyosuke, Juzo/Chisa, Juzo/Kyosuke/Chisa, Juzo/Gozu for instance. Crosscanon ships are okay with me, too! Somehow, this section is the longest so far...my thirst is showing... INJURIES: Minor injuries are fine but if it's going to be something more serious, please ask beforehead. DEATH: I'm absolutely not against it, but please let's plot first. MAGIC POWERS: Just ask first! I'm willing to try new things, so there's a big chance we'll work something out. OPT-OUT If you don't want any spoilers for Danganronpa 3 in our threads in the future or would like to opt-out of threading with Juzo altogether for whatever reason, here's the place. Comments are screened! |

CANON PERSONALITY:
When it comes to Juzo Sakakura, the first thing that strikes a person is how violent he is. Not only is he feared by his co-workers, but also one of the characters described him straight-out as "the most aggressive person in the Future Foundation". That said, apart from a particular fondness of physical aggresion (which may or may not be a side effect of being the Ultimate Boxer), Juzo's personality is quite rough as well. Quick-tempered and harsh, he's not an easy person to work (as it was pointed in the examples above) or even interact with as he’s quick to resort to violence or bullying. However, when the stakes are high, he can tone down his aggressive tendencies a little for the greater good—for example, when he was impersonating Ted Chikatilo in Dangan Ronpa Gaiden to lure in Takumi Hijirikawa on whom he was gathering information for quite some time. If the real Ted hadn’t appeared, who knows, maybe his guise wouldn’t have been revealed for quite some time.
While his usual attitude leaves a lot to be desired, his undeniable quality is Juzo’s loyalty to his friend, Kyousuke Munakata. From Juzo’s point of view, his relationship with Kyousuke is the most important one as he’s the one he fell in love with. Actually, it shaped his future in more ways than one—helping his friend out with the investigation of the Hope Peak’s Academy was the reason he had to put his boxing career on-hold. Juzo, however, didn’t regret this one bit as being useful to Kyousuke is one of his main motivations to take action. Actually, that’s not the only sacrifice he was willing to make for the sake of his friend—even though Kyousuke accused him of being a despair (which, more or less, equals to betraying him), it didn’t matter to Juzo and it certainly wasn’t enough to cloud his mind when he made a decision to cut his arm off and later on sacrifice his life to ensure Kyousuke’s safety. Saying that Juzo Sakakura is selfless in general would be a huge stretch, if not a lie, even, but when it comes to Munakata, Juzo shows his another side—a protective, and, to an extent, caring side.
Valuing his friend’s life more than his own may have its roots not only in the feelings he has for Kyousuke, but also Juzo’s own self-hatred. These two are strongly connected to each other, though, as his insecurities result from his love for his friend. Afraid that he might get abandoned not just by Kyousuke but Chisa, whom befriended both of them in high school, he keeps his feelings confined. The fact that Chisa is in love with Kyousuke as well doesn’t make things any easier for him and that would be because he cares about both of them deeply and wants them to be happy together, which leads him to thinking that his own feelings and presence would be bothersome for them—and that’s the last thing Juzo wants. He’s jealous of their relationship and admits that one time, just to turn it into a joke a moment later. While Chisa believes (or pretends to) it really was just a joke, it wasn’t one, which proves further how insecure he is.
Also, apart from making things rather awkward for Kyousuke and Chisa, having people find out is his greatest fear, apparently. If it wasn’t the case, he possibly wouldn’t let Junko Enoshima blackmail him and, in consequence, make him betray Kyousuke by telling him that she’s a normal student that has nothing to do with suspicious happenings at the Hope Peak’s Academy. Lying to his friend is something he can’t forgive himself, no matter how much time passes. Juzo’s also absolutely aware that if he wasn’t afraid and told him everything back then, they could have been able to stop Junko and maybe even foil her plan. This is most likely the reason why he hates Makoto Naegi whom he meets later on when he becomes an employee of the Future Foundation because Makoto beat Junko when he, paralyzed with fear and too proud to reveal his secret, couldn’t do a thing. Moreover, his hatred for people who will do anything to escape the responsibility and protect themselves rather than others is making matters even worse in terms of his self-hatred problem because that’s exactly what he did when he hid the truth from Kyousuke.
Putting the complicated situation between him and his friends aside for a moment, Juzo’s more or less aware that his talent is all that he has—he’s not too good in anything else besides punching things and/or people. That basically leads to even more punching and eventually becomes a vicious circle he can’t break as he keeps most of his feelings bottled up—not only the bad ones, but the good ones as well. To make matters worse for his self-esteem, he seems to be screwing up Kyosuke’s plan big time while he constantly strives to please him. Instead of trying to overcome his failures, he grows more and more frustrated as he doesn’t really know how to deal with it, and his aggression reaches its peak during the Final Killing Game, when he promises himself that he won’t fail Kyousuke again and will chase Makoto Naegi down.
Juzo definitely is a good example of a "I meant well but I screwed up in the end" case and even though his violence can’t and shouldn’t be excused, it seems like he just does know no better than that. It may be partly because of the world he’s living in, which is especially unforgiving and taking advantage of others isn’t anything unusual, but for the most part, it’s him not knowing how to express himself properly. That said, Juzo is absolutely capable of positive feelings, especially when his friends are involved as he is very loyal to them and cherishes them truly.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Juzo has been given the title of an Ultimate Boxer which basically means he's the best boxer in the world. Apart from receiving this title, he also won the World Championship, which only further proves how excellent his boxing skills are. As an Ultimate, he's probably capable of using many different boxing styles, but the fighting stance he's particularly fond of seems to be Southpaw, which means that he's fighting using his left hand rather than his right one.

AU HISTORY:
Born in Japan, Juzo was living there for most of his life. He's an only child, yet he doesn't have a good relationship with his parents. Contrary to how he looks like now, in his mid-twenties, Juzo was a rather frail boy. Also, while he was still a child, he met someone who protected him from bullies and the two of them became friends since that day. Since then, they've been sticking together.
He was rather average at everything, if not straight out bad (especially at school subjects) and got into trouble fairly often mostly because of his rough attitude and sharp tongue making himself anything but a teacher's favorite. Getting into fights in the middle school was his every-day reality, but he calmed down a bit in high school. Save for that one fight with a student council member. But that was the only exception...probably...
Moved to Recollé after leaving Japan—being an only child meant that he'd inherit his father's company which he wasn't interested in at all. Rather than spending his whole day sitting behind a desk, he'd rather do something actually useful...and that's how Juzo came up with the idea that he'd like to become a police officer. Since his parents wouldn't allow it, he had to move out after graduating from high school.
It was tough to reconcile part-time jobs and the police academy, but he somehow managed. One of the jobs he took up may or may not be the reason he hates every kind of tea now. It's all your fault, clumsy waitress, but no hard feelings...
A little while after probation ended, he found a really nice apartment in Tisse and the rent was low enough for him to afford it. Too bad his landlord decided to raise it a few months after he settled in (and gave Juzo an excuse to make up millions of nicknames to show off how old, stupid or evil he is), so he ended up looking for a flatmate rather sooner than later. Too bad so sad that his search was rather fruitless for quite a while.
That's when he and Ragna Edgson* met again—they ran into each other a few times before, though. During one of these meetings Juzo's fist made friends with Ragna's face...maybe they could have avoided it if Ragna wasn't breaking the law at the time or something. After talking it over like adults do**, they came to an agreement.
*Received permission from Ragna's player.
**Fair warning: their definition of talking it over may be a bit different to the usual one. Most likely some shouting and insulting each other occurred along the way.
Not likely to get a promotion any time soon, not with that attitude. Patrolling the streets is always better than being stuck in the office, anyway. Maybe one day...

AU PERSONALITY:
First of all, during a conflict, Juzo isn't going to resort to violence right away, just as his canon counterpart would. While it doesn't mean he doesn't throw a punch or two when a delinquent or a criminal isn't acting according to the rules from time to time, he's not aggressive during everyday situations. He's still abrasive, though, and most of the time he expresses it through his speech. That's the main reason he seems not likable but once you get more familiar with him, he gets better, promise.
With no figure to follow, Juzo developed his own moral system of sorts. That may be an unwelcome trait for a police officer, but that's how he is. For example, if he spots someone stealing food, depending on their explanation, he may simply warn them and let them run away hoping that they're going to make a good use of that second chance because their next meeting wouldn't be as friendly and nice. It's all because Juzo remembers how tough his beginnings in Recollé were. That said, this kind of "kindness" doesn't apply to more serious crimes—he is a police officer and has a strong sense of justice, after all. That's the main problem his superiors have with him and something that prevents him from getting a promotion as well.
Speaking of superiors, Juzo doesn't really like when anyone tries to control him, especially if they're self-important. This may have its roots in Juzo's relationship with his parents, who wanted him to inherit the family company, something which he was strongly against and which, in the end, lead him to Recollé. It doesn't outright mean that he denies following all orders, but instead he chooses to filter the ones that are actually worth fulfilling. It basically means that he's going to pick working in the field rather than paperwork any time of the day.
His work is a very important part of his life—so important, that he barely has time for anything else. The lingering feeling of insecurity that he probably should do something more with his life rather than watch the same action movies over and over again hits him during days free of work, but he's not even sure what to do about it and where to start, so maybe it's better not to do anything about it and leave it be until it fixes itself, somehow. That's because he feels like being a police officer is the only thing he's fairly good at, even if his superiors complain about him. As long as Juzo's convinced he's doing the right thing, they can criticize him away as he won't care at all.
When it comes to both his private life and everyday interactions, sometimes social cues are simply too much for him. This is the cost he has to pay for being straightforward, most likely. Due to that, he may often come off as grumpy, which isn't exactly a lie, though. Yet, when it comes to talking about himself or his feelings, he's anything but sincere and is quick to change the subject. He believes that it helps to upkeep his "tough guy" image, which is, no matter how you look at it, a naive way of thinking, but to him, it's a good enough way to keep his insecurities bottled up.
